Corrections Policy
At WithSportsYard, we are dedicated to providing our global readership with fast, accurate, and comprehensive sports journalism. We recognize our responsibility to our readers and hold ourselves to the highest editorial standards. However, in the fast-paced environment of digital sports news, we acknowledge that errors can occasionally occur.
When a mistake is made, our priority is to address it swiftly, transparently, and decisively. This Corrections Policy outlines how we handle errors to maintain the trust you place in our reporting.
1. Types of Corrections
We differentiate between minor formatting issues and substantial factual errors to ensure our updates provide the necessary context to our readers.
-
Factual Corrections: If we publish incorrect information—such as a wrong match score, an inaccurate player statistic, a misquoted statement, or a factual error regarding a sports regulation—we will update the article immediately. A clear “Correction” note will be appended to the article.
-
Clarifications: If the facts in a story are technically accurate but the phrasing is ambiguous, misleading, or lacks necessary context, we will rewrite the section for clarity. An “Update” or “Clarification” note will be added to explain the change.
-
Typographical Errors: Minor spelling, grammatical, or formatting errors that do not alter the meaning or factual integrity of the article are corrected directly within the text without an editorial note.
2. Format and Placement of Corrections
Transparency is critical to our process. When a factual correction or clarification is made, it will be documented clearly so readers know exactly what was changed.
-
Article Notes: The correction note will typically be placed at the bottom of the article. It will explicitly state the date of the correction, what the original error was, and the corrected information.
-
Top-of-Page Notes: In cases where a severe factual error fundamentally changes the premise of a major breaking news story, the correction note will be placed at the top of the article, directly below the headline, to ensure immediate visibility.
-
Social Media Corrections: If inaccurate information is shared across our social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, etc.), we will promptly delete the incorrect post and publish a new, corrected post that acknowledges the previous error.
3. Unpublishing (Takedown) Policy
As a matter of journalistic record, WithSportsYard generally does not “unpublish” or remove articles once they have been published. If a story is found to be fundamentally flawed or based on entirely inaccurate information, we will heavily amend the article to explain why the original premise was wrong, rather than deleting it. Removals are strictly reserved for rare circumstances, such as severe legal issues or clear violations of our core editorial ethics.
4. How to Report an Error
We value the vigilance of our sports community. If you spot a factual error, a misleading headline, or a broken link, we encourage you to reach out to our editorial desk immediately.
